Stern Tube Diameter

Does anyone know what the outside diameter of the Stern Tube on a 1989 Catalina 30, standard rig, wing keel? If not, where could I find these specs. It's not in any of my books. Could I measure it? The shaft diameter is 1". I am going to replace the gland with a dripless and need the specs. Thanks for any information. John

Hi John.This question was asked not long ago.These are the measurements I gave.If you search archives for 2005under #Dripless shaft seal measurements" you will get lots of info. Hull # 4936.Shaft size is 1"The tube size is 1 5/8".He also said to get the type that is for high speed. Although our shafts will not rev at high speed, this type has a small water line added to it.I believe it is there to cool and lubricate the seal thus extra life and less trouble.I plan on doing mine one day soon.It is on my list to do.Ken
