Can anyone describe to me what the bushing inside the stern tube looks like in a 1976 Hunter Cherub. 1976. My rudder tube has been slapping around a bit so I removed the rudder and found an indentation in the stern tube where the remnants of some sort of bushing (unrecognizable) was. I need to snug-up the stern tube and even Hunter Marine can't properly describe what it is that allows the rudder tube to move freely inside the stern tube while keeping it snug. Any help appreciated, supplier info. greatly appreciated. Mark

I believe a sheet of teflon

I have a 1981 25 Hunter Cherub and I believe a thin sheet of teflon was used to take up slack in the tube. Mine has a little slop and why I was inspecting it from the top I did see a sheet of material and it parcially came out and teflon would be my guess. Others on this site have said it was a teflon sheet so this information comes from others. I worked it back down in the tube and closed everything up. I would think the sheet runs the entire lenght of the tube.
