Can anyone recommend a place or website where I can purchase either stainless steel or aluminum piping and connection fittings to build a solar support system? Your response appreciated.

A local guy here sourced his tubing from a metal supplier with an office here, not a marine specific vendor.

Edit: Metal Supermarkets. They apparently have an office in Boston.

While he used fittings, in hindsight he wished he had had it welded together. I will be building one this year and will likely buy a tubing joint cutter and get it welded. With fittings for any moveable sections.

The fittings can be purchased in a lot of places, Defender, Sailrite, and Marine Part Depot among others.

Shorter lengths of tubing can also be had at Defender and Sailrite. Longer lengths can be sourced from a local canvass shop. The tubes come in 20 ft lengths and shipping to a residential address can be very expensive.

. . .
Dlochner's got it. Purchased all of our fittings from Defender. Manufacturers were Gemini and Suncor for various fittings and King Marine for the SS tubing. All items ended up being of high quality. In researching the project, I had better luck searching against bimini/dodger/canvas frames than anything solar related. Same parts are used, just a different marketing focus.
