Stern Rail Seats

I have stern rail seats on my 98 H240. I want to rebed them this season as alot of the caulk as come out. Are the bots that hold them on going into one of the aluminum plates that hunter glasses into the haul or are there nuts on the other side.

Hi Sean,I tried to rebed some of my life line stanchions, my 98 240 has the straight up two bolts straight through design. Those were into the aluminum plates. I tried longer bolts and nuts on the stanchions before i figured out they were bedded into the aluminum plates.I would think the stern rail seats are bedded in the same sort of way. This weak bedding of the stanchions is one of my few gripes about the 240. Another would be the uphaul on my swing keel. It's very difficult to raise. I need to use the winch and handle to raise mine.

That is generally the case. Sometimes though, the placement of the screws misses the aluminum plate and the factory will put a washer with lockiing nut on the inside. If the screw will not back out, look in thru the back.
