Catbird seat installation
I purchased the stern rail seat kit from Hunter for my '94 H-26 shortly after they came out.Along with 5 pages of installation instructions that I have in front of me, the kit included 2 aluminum plates, fiberglass cloth to glass the plates in place and reinforce the area, 12 toggle bolt type stainless blind fasteners for the forward legs, and all necessary hardware. I provided the resin and caulk. The aluminum plates were glassed into place facing each other at the transom, drilling and tapping them provides the main support for the rear legs and the seats. The forward legs were mostly blind fasteners, but I think I was able to put washers and nuts on a couple of the machine screws that I could reach. I did this in '96, and with Hunters hardware and using the 3M 5200 sealant they recommended the seat mounts have not moved.
