Has anyone put a stern pulpit on their H23. I've seen them on the 23 odayand frankly for safety reasons I would like to add this to my beloved 23. It is to easy to bump someone off the stern.
Are you refering to the the old 23 wing keel or the 23.5 water ballast? Hunter did build a retro stern rail seats for the 23.5. IF it is the 23, call Hunter and ask for Mike Thomas to see if they did. If not, I cannot remember exactly who made them for the 23 aftermarket but I will look and hopefully can advise you.
I've got one on our H23. The life lines have been extended to reach the stern pulpit. It was already added before we purchased the boat, so I can only tell you it is possible and is a great addition.
As I indicated it is the H 23 not the 23.5 and I don't want to sit up there I feel that would alter the balance of the boat a bit. its only a 23. and tender at that. I just want to have a bit of a barrier to avoid bumping some one out we do sail outside of sheltered waters.Actually I would like a H31. I will check with Hunter to see if they made one.
I think the Defender Catalog has 2 different sizes of stern pulpit. I haven't checked to see if either of them would fit on an H23 but they might. You can find them on the web, they have an online catalog.Chris
Hi Ron,I have added a stern pulpit on my 85' H23. I ordered a pair of Capri22 stern pulpits from Catalina and only payed about $45.00 each for them. I needed to make a set of wooden deck adapters so thepulpits would be solidly boted to the stern toe rails but it workedout great and made siling with my two sons much safer.Good luck, happy sailing,Chuck Michel "Windsongs"
Whatare you refering to when you stated wooden deck mount do you mean Backing plates under the toe rail. And does the capri 22 stern pulpits interfere with the back stay or rudder movement.

Hi Ron,I had to make a set of wood adapters because the Capri pulpits didnot mount flat to the deck of the H23. I placed the metal backers under the deck/toe rail so that I didn't crack the fibreglass deck.To make the adapters, I stole my son's play-do and pressed it betweenthe pulpit and the deck. I then had the angles required to cut the adapters.
