I'm looking to replace a damaged Stern perch seat for a 2008 Hunter 45 DS. Anyone have any ideas for a comfortable seat to replace it with. You can't sit on hard plastic or wood for too long. I've seen the seats with pads, but it is pretty thin.

On our DS44 we had perch cushions made to match the cockpit cushions. They were the same thickness, and very comfortable. We would stand the helm watch on autopilot sitting on the perches.

You can sit on a carved wooden seat for a long time. But it must be done well. Now, I've not seen them on boats, but that would be cool! If I ever go there I may do that! Or how about a caned seat? The old canoes had those, very comfortable for long times...
Sorry, probably not a very helpful comment, unless you know a good wood carver or chair caner...
