We now have davits on our H376. When we have the dink hauled up it mostly blocks our stern light. It is welded onto our pulpit. Any suggestions?
Thanks. Bob

I guess you could add a second light but lower if there is not enough height to raise it over the davit. i.e. if there is a clear horizontal path below the dinghy.
Or is there a position on the davit itself where a light could be mounted? Possibly on the top?
Raising the light on an upstand extension on the pushpit might not be satisfactory as the davits themselves would obscure the light from certain angles. Also it would be vulnerable, though it is a simple job to fix a piece of SS tube to the existing vertical using two jubilee clips so maybe the same mount that small motorboats use for their forward facing light might be suitable.

If any of the above is practicable then take a wire from the existing light, via a hole through the bottom, seal the cable in and remove the bulb. Connect this cable to the new light.

greetings Bob,
My boat came with a SS radar arch on the stern and the stern light was relocated to the top of the arch. Another ooption is to move it to the transom as they make lights that are more water resistant now in the aqua signal line. Depends on how much drilling you are willing to do i guess.

either fllush mounted

or use a all in one mast light but that means a trip up the mast.

On my previous boat I had added davits and then added a cross-piece clamped to the end of each davit. I just clamped a stern light on the cross-bar, cut the wiring on the factory welded one and ran it up the davit and tied it into the new light. Simple, about a half-hour of work.
