Advice on which speakers (size/brands) to install in our 340 cockpit. Anyone installed in the arch? Have the standard am/fm stereo/CD player that came with the boat.
Got a pair of West Marine speakers (about $34 if I remember right). The sound is great in the cockpit of our H34. Went with the white ones and they blend in well. Scott 83-H34 Island Hops
Used 5" in poly in the arch. Ran wires from control panel back back though conduit to starboard lazarette. Entered bottom side of arch at that point. Was able to run wire up and over inside arch to port side. Replaced access ports with speakers. May require some slight filing to enlarge the ports. Works great. This summer will be 4th year. Boat is left out in the winter at 44th parallel. I would install it in the arch again. But there is an advantage to putting them in the consule under the table leaf: the table leaf provides protection. It also muffles the sound some. Trade off . . . Jim
I'm imbarrassed to say I don't know the size or brand of our speakers (we had them installed at the time of purchase). However, we do have them installed in the arch and we love it. I highly recommend such an installation.
