I have a Pioneer stereo and CD player. The AM/FM/Cassette unit just tanked again. This is my second one to do so in three years. Both happened after disconnecting and reconnecting the batteries. The fuse is fine and everything else is OK. It has current. Polarity was never reversed and there should have been no spike. The hot is connected directly to the DC feed. The thing just won't go on. This seems a bit more than coincidence. Any ideas? Rick D.

Code?

Perhaps it is the type of car stereo that requires an anit-theft code after the battery has been disconected.

Grounded?

Is the unit securely grounded to an engine mount or some other metal or grounding wire? Good Luck - Greg Jones
