Stereo replacement?

When I bought our '88 Legend 35 two years ago, it came with a stereo and cassette built into the circuit panel. We would like to upgrade, but the width of the hole in the panel is only about 5 1/4" wide, meaning standard DIN sized auto radios won't fit. I can't make the hole in the circuit panel any wider because of the breakers on either side. Anybody know where one can find a 12v auto/marine AM/FM/CD receiver that will fit in a 5 1/4" hole?

Just a thought

How about a car scrapyard, it would not be new but the price should reflect that!

Try Crutchfield

Have you tried contacting Crutchfield (crutchfield.com)? They are mail order stereo specialists and have a huge selection, maybe they can help. (No marine stuff as far as I know though, just car stuff) Good luck, Jim

Thanks for the suggestions

I did try Crutchfields and many other sites on the web. Seems *nobody* makes stereos less than the standard DIN, which is 7". A 5 1/4 radio wouldn't allow a CD anyway, since that's how big they are. I might try to find a mini system that will fit, otherwise I'll just bite the bullet and find some other place to mount the stereo.
