Just purchased a 2001 H260. I would like to get some advice concerning stereo and speaker placement from other H260 owners. I've got to have my tunes and would like to install it right the first time.

Tune convience

Hi Eddie, I put the stereo where I could reach it from the aft berth on my first boat and was very happy with that at lites out time. I could lean in the companionway and tune it from the cockpit which was not too bad. This time I got the Jensen with the hard wired remote and still located the stereo over the aft berth in the little offset facing the galley. (Kinda' under the DC panel) The remote mounts in a 2" hole like a guage in your dash. I put it with my other gauges on the angled area at the aft end of the starboard seat in the cockpit. It's a pretty good little remote. You can do almost everything with it. I like the idea of making changes without leaving the helm. Hope this helps, Joe C. in NC '01 H260 Windward Passage

stereo placement

If you want some noise put a couple 6 x 9 triaxials in the cabin under the table on the bulkhead. Out side, a couple waterproof speakers mounted on the "seat" by your pedistal steering pointing towards the cockpit. The stereo is kind of tricky. An east spot is under the galley sink facing the table, but be sure you have a waterproof housing around the stereo or ou will fry it if the sink leaks!(had it happen)Find a stereo that has a remote and mount it on the steering pedistal. you will be able to control your tunes from the cockpit.Hope this helps.

Stereo placement

I mounted mine in the engine enclosure on the panel facing the galley It can be operated from the berth at nite. Then I used 6X9 triaxials in storebought enclosures. They are in the aft berth facing to the front. Power was easy because you can go straight back to the battery compartment, just use an in-line fuse. I left extra cabling to allow the compartment to lift and lower for storage purposes.
