I've been taking my mast down at the end of every season, then stepping it every summer (tomorrow is the dreaded day!). I'm told it's unnecessary. Any insights??
I'm sure there are advantages to taking down the mast every off-season, as it will make it easier to check on the condition of the mast, wiring, shrouds, blocks, and halyards. For casual and recreational sailing, I think it might be overkill. Unless, of course, you're trailering. Then it is probably necessary
