check out youtube there are about 5 guys on there showing different ways to do it by yourself. I will be trying one soon.

ARe you using the gin pole and mainsheet block? I have found that it is hardest for the first few feet or so then gets easy until you reach the tension to attach the forestay. I've never had to use "brute force", but understand that means different things to each of us. I have read where some people use the gin pole and the trailer winch, or get a longer line for the mainsheet and run it back to one of the deck winches.

I use the jib halyard sheet with the winch with the gin pole. Easy Peasey.
