We have a 2000 model B-321 we bought new. Have never stepped the mast. Everything seems to be working fine.

How often should we step the mast and inspect the top?

Not sure how much that will cost or what I will find at the top other than spiders...

Always a fresh water boat? If yes your rigging is probably OK, but an annual check is a good idea. But no need to drop the stick to do that. Got a bosuns chair? Find some people that know what they are doing to manage the lift. You'll be looking for broken wires (snags) and rust where the wire meets the fittings. Also for cracks in any of the masthead, forestay, and spreader fittings.

Good time for an LED anchor light bulb too.

Thanks, Jackdaw, yes it is in freshwater.
We have a bosuns chair (actually use a climbing harness) and have sent my son up a couple times.
I probably will 'drop the stick' this year or next just to go thru everything better...
