Stepping a Mast on an older 23 O'Day

I resently bought an older 23 O'Day where the 32' mast is stepped on the bottom of the bilge at the front of the keel. We had to winch the mast out by using a tree limb that acted as a lifting point above the spreader bars. I would like to know if anyone has converted their mast to either hinge on be modified to be stepped at the top of the cabin level. It sure would make it easier to to rig the boat off the trailer and get it in the water. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. Dick Harris

drmarine should have the parts to do it. not that hard, basic, mast is cut just above cabin top and the bottom part of the tabernacle is mounted to it, add some stuff to hold lower part in place, cut about 1-2 inches more off end of mast and mount other half of tabernacle hinge to it. seal up area around lower mast and cabin roof. contact rudy at dr marine for full details. it is just that simple, hardest part is getting the nerve to make the first cut in the mast. after that it is all drilling and bolting.
