Steering maintenance on H31

In preparation for tightening the steering cable, I lowered the f/g panel above the quarter birth. It looks like I'm getting some kind of oxidation/corrosion on the sextant where the cable rides. I assume there's something I should spray this area with to prevent further oxidation?

Most likely aluminum against the ss cables. Clean it up. I use 3:1 oil after Simple Green and then spray with Boeshield T9. Check the wire clamps and make sure they've been installed correctly.

Other thing to check is that there should be no wetness getting there to cause the corrosion. The cleanup and Boeshield is in order.. but do find and stop the source of water.. Pictures are of my '84 model .. no cleanup since new.. is lightly lubed and wiped down on 24 month intervals
