I was just running some electrical wires through my steering compartment, when I noticed several lumps of rust on top of my steering quadrant ( or disc, in this case). They turned out to be the clamps on the steering cables. I changed them out for stainless steel clamps, and feel much better about leaving for our upcoming cruise.
Just wondered if anyone else has seen this, or did Catalina just "forget" to use stainless in my boat? My hull is #231, 2003 model.

I don't see any signs of rust on the clamps in your photo, Paul, so most likely, your clamps are stainless. I thought it odd that the clamps on the steering stops are stainless on my boat, but the clamps on the steering cables themselves were plain steel. It took a mini torch to get them off! If this isn't a common problem, then most likely, a worker picked up the wrong clamps during construction. Thanks for the photo.
