Name?

Posts like this make me very uncomfortable. If you're going to slam a business this hard I think it's appropriate to use a real name. Thanks for your cooperation. ph.

agree

I agree, a name with complaint is needed. I have bought many things from Rudy for my ODay 25. Although he is a quarky New Englander, as am I, my business dealings with him have been good. He knows more about ODays than anyone.

D

And we have resurrected the one-man shop vs I'm not sure what controversy, haven't we? All my dealings with Rudy have been successful, but the phone is a LOT more successful than the web site. I have also found that asking a question will get me a more positive response than the frontal attack, but I don't really know the specifics. Having a new Oday in the stable means continued dealings to which I look forward. Bill Coxe, O28/40, New London, CT

Wingtowing or what ever your real name is...

Try to buy that product anywhere else.... Rudy sells what he arranges to order from his suppliers as ALL retailers do. He cannot be responsible for all that he sells. He is a broker of available material not a manufacturer (except, I believe, he does manufacture some fiberglass part for the O'Day's). Would you claim responsibility for a manufacturer changing his spec and not letting you know? Be happy the holes are filled and the view is clear and fitted properly. If you want them black, order some uv vinyl and cutout the black/clear areas that you need. Talk to a sign maker for the uv vinyl that they use for lettering. How long has that boat not been made? be glad he is still focusing on the O'DAY's. Sorry for being so blunt but Rudy has taken care of everything I have ordered. Yes, his shop is streamline and if you want to call him and "him and haw over this and that" it cuts into the time he has to put out orders that the rest of us make and are happy with. That is another reason why he doesn't respond to some e-mails. He is just too busy to deal with window shoppers. r.w.landau

rudy is a great guy

If it were not for Rudy I would not have been able to save my oday 22 from the scrap heap--- he was and is very helpful- I have had trouble with other suppliers during the busy season -- but this is understandable --- by the way ---- I have never had trouble with Rudy - Algae

My Dealings With Rudy

I've been buying parts from Rudy since I bought my O'Day 25 three years ago, and he's never missed a beat for me. Not a year has gone by that I have ordered less than $400 of various parts from him.

Another Rudy thought...

Rudy is probably the last guy involved in the O'Days of yesteryear. He has kept his prices reasonable and when you call he takes the time to resolve problems. That is because he is the only person that knows ALL of these boats! His staff cannot know the boats like Rudy does. There is NO ONE that knows O'Days like he does and no one that can under stand some of the parts and problems that need some answers and supply them too. If you talk to Rudy you should be grateful for the time spent talking with an expert on your boat! r.w.landau

Wow!

Such angst! I have talked to Rudy a few times on the phone and have always enjoyed the conversation. Is he abupt? Yes he is. Is he terse? Yes he is. Does he take care of business, get the goods out, help me to understand just what it is I REALLY need to buy, and listens? Yes he does! As someone said he has a quirky New England style but he cuts through the B.S. And conversation and gets on with getting results. Lastly; how many businesses can we talk directly to the guy who owns the business and makes sure things happen? Few if any. E-mail is fine but you can't beat that one-on-one personal touch Rudy provides. Keep on keepin' on Rudy. Mike Glover

RUDY RUDE?

I thought i would add my two sense also. Any thoughts that maybe when you called Rudy you already had an "Attitude" . Everything i have purchased from him has beed at a reasonable price and of great quaility. I second,Rudy keep on keepin on Rudy and D&R Marine.

Steer Toward D

I am lucky enough to be less than 10 miles from Rudy's place. When I walked in July, unannounced and not knowing what to expect, he re-riveted a fitting on my boom, which saved me the expense of the fitting or the boom. He outfitted me with all new halyards and sheets for my #610 Widgeon, which had been a planter for 15 years. We have had the boat in the water twice this year. Rudy was not totally responsible, but he sure helped. We all can only speak of our own experiences, but my experience will steer me back to D

As I have said before.....

Rudy Rocks!!! If not for Dudy waiting for me to come in late on a Saturday, our vacation would have been totally blown. Who wants to wait for 2 hours after closing on a Saturday for some bum in New Hampshire to drive down. Maybe because if was a Saturday after hours, but he was a blast to talk to and wanted to show me all. If a person doesn't want to sign their name, the complaint has no merrit in my book!! Yankees (not he World Champs)

As a fellow New Englander (and thanks to the others who agreed) Rudy is a true Yankee. If you asked Rudy "Does it make any differnce which way the mast goes on the boat" his answer would be "Not to me it don't". Sometimes the toung in the cheek NE sarcasm is not easily seen. Be a little less agressive and you will find us Yankees are quite helpful.

D

As my first statement said, I was only trying to send a message of poor experince with this company to aid other sailors. Obviously, those of you who have dealt with Rudy and have enjoyed good service, then great, but I unfortunately can not share your enthusiasm. As far as my name, I only signed onto this message board to post this comment and was unaware that "name" meant personal name, so I but my boat's name. I have nothing to hide, my name is Colleen

So, Colleen, let me get this straight...

...you registered on a forum simply to bad-mouth a business based on one experience? Yeah...your credibility isn't in jeopardy. If that was your sole purpose, then this place isn't for you. We HELP each other here. Further, having taken your postings into account, it would lead one to believe that your attitude sucks. That's just MY two-cents. I have been dealing with Rudy for many years and have never had a problem. I am fortunate to live only an hour away from his ONE-MAN OPERATION. You won't find this level of corporate knowledge with regard to the O'day line anywhere! Cheers, Bob
