Steaming Light Wiring

While trying to replace the steaming light on my 83 C30 I let the wiring go "into the hole" and down into the mast in a moment of carelessness. After stringing together a couple of colorful words I tried to sort out my predicament. I was unable to locate where the wiring enters the mast to try to pull the wires through but was unsuccessful. I think I am stuck simply dropping new wiring down from the light, drilling a hole at the bottom of the mast and re running the wires back to the circuit box. Has this happened to anyone else and how did they fix it? Would I be better off hiring someone (probably, judging by my first outing ha ha) or is there a straightforward way to fix this. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks and happy sailing.

turning blocks

Ron, If you have internal halyards you can remove the turning block where the halyards exit the mast at the base. If you can gain access there use a steel snake from the light to rerun the wires If not you may have to drop the mast. The wires go from the bildge up thru the compression post and thru the deck inside of the mast. At leat thats the way it is on my 87' Good luck

Sadly

Sadly no internal halyards. On the brighter side I'm told by an ex catalina 30 owner at my marina that there is a pole in the mast that runs the wiring to the steaming light and anchor light. I guess I'll try getting a good look into the hole to see what I can see. Maybe I'll get lucky and be able to fish em out. Thanks for the reply. ron
