I have read a lot of information regarding cleaning sails on this forum. Has anybody ever tried to steam clean their sails or would this damage the sails?

I think it may be too harsh.

Ken: I would think that this may be too harsh a treatment. I believe that this would remove the resin from them and make them very limp. I think you best bet is to lay them out on the lawn or driveway and scrub them with warm soapy water. For those stubborn spots you can try using sail cleansers. Many have reported good results with putting your sails in a hot tub and letting the get cleaned by the jet action too. I wrote up some research several years ago on products that were suitable for spot cleaning. It may still be in the archives.

Makes sense

Thank you Steve for your input. I kind of thought it may be too harsh. I was just curious to see if anybody has tried this. I think I will soak them as mentioned. Ken
