Can anyone give me the reason my 1983 H31 has a serious stbd. list? I've heard all the reasons from too much weight on the starboard side to rig out of tune. I've tuned the rig (reduced the list some). I've added ballast to the port side, (about 400#). I still have a slight list.

Batteries?

Perry: If you have your batteries in the starboard "pit", this will exaceerbate the problem. The later models moved the two batteries from the "pit" to the area over the shaft log below the aft quarter berth. Two batteries is going to weigh about 140 lbs. If this is moved to the center of the boat, it would be nearly a 280 lbs. offset. I have never seen a H'31 without some list. Yours was just worse than most.

starboard lst

The watertank is located under the aftberth, if this is full, it could be the cause, along with the batteries and anything else you have in starboard lazarette. If you added 400# to port, I'd say you have a more serious problem.
