I own a new 49 Ben and i was woundering what has been the best config as far as frame and canvas for totally covering the cock pit. I have the top on and dogger and want to complete all the way around .What company does a good job. I am in SC and in South Port NC.

We have an 08 43 and had the canvas man make a full enclosure for us. Best $2500 I spent on the boat. It does a nice job of blocking wind and rain plus warms the cockpit on a chilly day. Panels either roll up, if you're anticipating more bad weather, or unzip and stash nicely in the cockpit locker.
Was never a fan of the full enclosure thing; too bulky, too big, added too much mass too far aft, looked like a covered wagon. For live-aboards, tho, it makes a lot of sense. Adds another room. I have been at the island and wished for a windward panel of some sort to keep the wind from the cockpit so it didn't make the cocktail hour too cold.
