I understand that Morgan Industries Corporation (a.k.a. Hunter Marine, et al ) has filed for Chapter 11 and has asked the courts to fast track the process. I also understood that the Hunter plant was still in production. This was all good news. However, the Hunter Marine website has been silent about the news (which is somewhat understandable) and a check on the site last night shows it no longer exists. Is there any solid news out there as to what the status of Hunter Marine is?

Not that I can find, but maybe the website down is coincidence or they are hosted by someone who also had the rest of the group. Just speculating here. This article seems to suggest Hunter Marine is an ongoing enterprise:

Solid news

Yes, we talk to them daily (multiple times daily, usually), and the outage was caused by some IT work and physical re-org going on there.

They're very much in business, building boats, and have a backlog of orders. While I'm no expert on bankruptcy proceedings, from what I've seen and heard I believe they'll be out of this fairly soon and may well be stronger than they have been in quite some time.

That last part is editorial comment, but to answer your question, yes they're still here.

Re: Solid news

Yeah! Phil, this is very reassuring, given that my 2012 Hunter 33 (e33???) is currently being fitted out by the local dealer. As I will not be taking possesion until the 1st week in June, at earliest, I whole bunch of bad things get conjured up in my head. Thanks again. I will sleep well tonight. Len

The sailboat operation is reportedly doing good. They probably need to divest themselves from other business interests.

Not familiar with chapter 11 across the 49th; but, I would tend to agree unless I was a creditor for the power boat manufacturers. I suppose then I wouldn't appreciate the split of richer (sailboat) and poorer (power boat). It is kind of letting the Morgan Corp, as a whole, off the hook somewhat.

Sailm8: Unfortunately, their staffing is pretty thin right now and the folks in support are focused on handling warranty issues, as they should be. But hopefully, between the collective wisdom of the forum and the work we're doing on the retail parts side, that gap is covered. If there's anything we can help with feel free to contact us here:

Just wanted to post a quick follow-up on this. I continued to ask around about the web site problem and it turns out there was a firewall change made Friday that caused the outage. It must be a Universal Law that firewall changes are always made at the end of the day Friday. :)

First, Phil Herring is right and John Peterson, President of Hunter, did an outstanding press release to the industry as to what was happennning and they will come out much stronger than before. They have well over 65 orders in house and are hiring.

The main computer system was in St. Augustine and they were bringing it to Hunter in the past couple of months. Hunter Marine is here to stay.

Faith

I have faith in Hunter doing what needs to be done and when all is said and done the Sailboat builder will be that much stronger and better away from the power boat builders.
I have had 2 new Hunters and still in love :dance:with my Hunter and so glad I did buy Hunters built in the USA,Go Hunter.

Apparently, my new Hunter 33 (e33) is at the front of the line, almost ready to go. It was expected to be delivered two weeks ago. The latest update is that they will be shipping at the end of June. My feeling is that they needed to stop everything, do a complete inventory, before the Hunter Division can be sold off the the new owners. Of course Hunter's suppliers are holding shipments back until they know who is going to be paying them. So, while my boat is waiting for a few "nuts and bolts", we are waiting and watching boats sail out of our marina to enjoy the day. Can you sense the frustration?

sometimes hunter has to wait on the suppliers to get parts to the factory and this has been true for many years. Suppliers are working with Hunter.

My understanding is that Hunter has had a run on the new e33 with quite a few order to fill.
