We are looking for clarification as of this post time (early June 23') about Starlink and use in the Great Lakes, specifically Lake Michigan. We are racing the Chi-Mac, and would like to secure satcom source for weather routing. I have heard of YouTube cruisers using the RV antenna and roam package in the tropics, and pending changes to close loopholes being exploited.

Anyone with actual use case recently? Any word on what is expected come end of July?

Thanks in advance.

I do not know about the Great Lakes.

I do know Starlink is beginning to crack down on off-shore ocean use so there you should be looking at upgrading your service if you want to depend on it. Now if you have the Starlink Roaming package, you could easily upgrade your service for the race time period - and then drop back down to the terrestrial package. That would seem to me to be pretty economical. Sorry, not more on my side.

p.s. it does depend upon how fast your boat is - if you are expecting to sail consistently above about 8 knots, you need the high speed antenna.
