I have noticed in pictures that some Catalina 310's have a port in the starboard aft quarter and some do not. Was this change done for a reason? I believe my window may have leaked causing the wood paneling in that area to become damaged. Just wondering for my own interest. Regards, Chris

I have a 2005..

And it has no portlight. I beleive they got rid of it in 2004. I wish my hull did not have ANY but the quote to remove them, fill the holes, fix the gelcoat and replace the interior teak was 4k!! My guess is that they removed it to cut cost a bit.. Chris what year is your 310???

My 310 is a 2002. I became concerned that the port might be leaking as the teak panel on that side has some water damage. However, I believe that I have tracked the leak to the forward flange on the rail where it attaches to the deck. I will have to rebed the rail fitting. It was +6 here in Halifax yesterday. Spring is coming! Regards, Chris

I believe that 2002 was the last year for this "3rd" stationary port. Mine (early 2003 model, hull #230) does not have it. And I prefer not having it. I think they realized that the overhead, opening hatch to the cockpit lets in enough light to the aft berth area so the 3rd stationary hatch wasn't needed. For what's its worth in case anyone has wondered--Another change that happened about this same time (early 2003) was the switch to the white fiberglass refer door (previous was an aluminum-framed door that tended to have condensation issues).
