What do you use the cockpit starboard hatch (shallow) for? Their has to be something besides a beer cooler to use it for.

The lazerette on the 27 is pretty similar - about 6" deep. I keep a couple of shallow Tupperware-type containers in there with all sorts of stuff in them, from bungees to outboard oil, all little stuff. A small propane canister fits in mine. C'mon, you can find *something* to go in there!

I keep my dock lines, deck plate key and small propane cannisters (in a West Marine propane cannister bag)for my BBQ grill in that locker. I keep the propane in there because there is no opening to the inside of the boat from that locker (propane is heavier than air and would sink into the boat... not a good thing)...
