Just bought a '82 25' and the back corner stantions were taken off by the previous owner and never replaced. I will be getting new ones and want to re-do the lifelines. I spoke with West marine and they said the custom make the lifelines, but they must be measured accurately. and it is expensive. Is it really necessary to have them custom make them or can I do it my self?

Swage them

You can swage the fittings on yourself with hand-crimp fittings. They do not look as professional but will work just as well. good luck

Sta-Lok

The Sta-lok swagless ternminals are a clean neat strong and effective way to do it your self. They are not cheap, but if I were a cruiser, I would have some of these and a length of rigging cable. These fittings have got to be stronger than factory pressed fittings because the mechanical connection is stronger than crimping. I may take some rigging between fittings, but if you sit down with a West Marine or Defender Catolog you should be able to figure a connection between the lifeline and the pelican hook. good luck r.w.landau
