Standing Water

I have standing water under the sink of my '79 30ft Hunter. It does not drain to the bildge. As a matter of fact, it doesn't drain any where. Has anyone seen and/or solved this one?

Similar problem

I have an 81' H30. My sink is fine, but the engine compartment gets full of water. The shaft log leaks, and is the cause. Do you have a drain hole or open passage from the sink compartment to the bilge? I do not know how easy/safe it is to create passageways to the bilge.

I get it under the starboard settee

My '79 H30 leaks rain water into the area under the starboard settee. I can't figure out how it gets there, but it always appears after a rain, hmmm. I guess I'll have to go look while it's raining sometime. Water from the shaft accumulates in the molded in pan under the engine and has to be removed with a sponge. Standing water is NO GOOD!

I get rainwater under the starboard settee and traced the problem to the hose draining the cockpit. It had a small crack and so the water seeped in and since the thru-hull fitting slopes backward the water stands in the hose untill it all leaks into the boat and the finds it way to the stardboard settee and also the bilge. Probably if the boat listed to the port it would collect on that side instead. Have not been able to find the right ID hose to replace the leaking one yet. Just another place to check.

most common problem in this area

From what I have read in the past the most common problem here is the drain for the icebox. You might also check your pressure water pump which is in under the floor of the starboard lazarette - leaks here can run through the opening for the pressure water hoses into the cabinet under the sink. Good luck!

Mine too

I accumulate water there also. My '79 H30 has always had an accumulation there from the icebox condensation. My icebox is refrigerated, which adds to the problem. It's only a real problem in the winter as the summer here is very dry and warm so I don't get the condensation problem. Just keep sponging!
