When raising and lowering the mast how much of the standing rigging is needs to be disconnected other then the headstay? I'm looking at a 1986 cat. 22 if the year matters.
On my "72 I disconnect the forestay and the four lower shrouds. I mark the turnbuckle settings with nail polish (paint it on when everything's set properly) for easy re-setting. I also use a little anti-seize (auto parts store) on the threads to protect and lubricate them. You'll get a method in no time. Good luck.
You also have to remove the two forward lower shrouds. If you plan on trailing the boat, Catalina Direct sells "quick releases" that can be placed on these 3 stays. These give you the room to remove the stay without the need to re-just the rigging. The only draw back is that you may have to also change your stays if you still have the old "eye type".
