Oday 25 Saratoga Lake
Anyone have any suggestions on where to purchase and/or advice installing new standing rigging on a 1980 Oday 25?.....Any information would help. BTW, I don't have a furler system (yet!), so the new set-up would have a cable forestay.

If you don't have a chandler nearby to splice some ss cable for you, try your local flying club, they use the same wire and use nico press the same way we do on our boats on their light planes' control cables. The only thing you need to know is the original length, eye to eye. It cost me a small donation to their coffee fund and about 8 minutes of the shop tech's time.

Rudy to the rescue

Go to Rudy at D&R Marine. His website and contact info are in the links section of this website. I bought replacement standing rigging from Rudy for my Oday 23 a couple of years ago. Rudy used to work for Oday and has the most knowledge about what your boat needs. His prices were competitive and I got the finished rigging within a couple of days of the order.

If you have your old rigging, West Marine will make you an exact replacement. They have always done a good job for me and saved me a lot of leg work. Even if you don't have the original they can help you out. I usually go to one of their stores and pick up at same. Good Luck

Compare prices with Rudy

I spoke with one of my local repair guys, telling him I was going to replace my standing rigging. He said that he did that too, and wanted a chance to bid on it. I like to support locals about as much as I like to support Rudy for many of the same reasons, so I told him I was just about to place an order to replace all of the rigging for $450, turnbuckels and eyes included. He said he couldn't touch that price. Sometimes Rudy is higher, and I buy anyway. I just believe in supporting the "specialists" that I need. But, in the case he was cheaper. I suspect he'll be cheaper than West Marine as well. I didn't have to measure a thing. The rigging arrived, it fit perfectly. I already had the mast down (we trailered it down to Corpus Christi for a long weekend), so installation took only about an hour.
