I had the pleasure of spending time in SECO Souths shop a few weeks ago...
I took my rigging there to have it matched up to my boat and buy some new bronze turnbuckels.... while i was there he streched out each pair of shrouds and determined if they were the same lingth and also how much of the turn buckel had been used via measuring the thread lingth...if he determined that the threads had been run down in the turnbuckel body a long way he then woud deduct as much as 1 inch for the new set in order to give me more adjustment when installing back on the boat.... this is to allow for strech over the years (the strech is not only in the cable but also in the boat its self) he also would determine if one of the pair was longer than the other.... if it was he would then investagate the terminals to see why....he found on one pair of mine that a new terminal had been put on at some time and was bearly in the turnbuckel and the othere side was srewed almost all the way down ...that prolly ment some one had repaird one with a new terminal and went on there merry way ...he adjusted those to middle of the dimentions and establised the new set cut lingth.....he did every pair in this manner.....he also instructed me to never clean the threads on the old ones when having them replace...as this was they way he determined how much longer or shorter he needed to make the new ones....all in all it was a very enlighting trip from a rigging stand point...he was very methodical in his assement of my rigging......
OBTW he also said to mark the terminal threads with masking tape before you un screw the turnbuckels from the boat .....
i dont know if i could have found a better rigging company or not but after my visit there i see no need to look else where ......his priceing was fantastic......
so if any one needs rigging i strongly suggest that you give them a try and based on my experiance there ...you will not be sorry......
