Again, does anybody know if it is proper to have an inch difference for the pin hole of the mast in relation to the chainplates under the deck as the mast penetrates through the deck opening? Do the side stays pull the deck up that far?
I don't know the answer but am not sure what you are referring to. I have an Oday 31 which may or may not be the same but I think they may be similar.
Do you mean the pin through the mast where the mast goes through the cabin top (the partners)? The side stays (shrouds) attach at the deck fittings which transfers the pull, through rods, to the floor plan. I don't think the shrouds should move the deck much at all. An inch sounds like a lot, especially at the cabin top where the mast goes through. But that's just my thought. I could certainly be wrong. I do know that the pin is supposed to be placed after the rigging is set up so maybe you could go ahead and tighten the shrouds and stays and see if it lifts the deck that much.
Attached (I hope, if I know how to do that) are the pages from the manual for stepping Isomat spars. If you haven't seen them hopefully they can shed some light on the processs.
Your best bet might be to call Rudy at D&R Marine, 508-644-3001. He is the go to O'Day man.
Good luck
