Standing headroom

Hi Roger,

My height is 5' 11'' and I find my Vega a little uncomfortale when standing, especially since I have back problems.........But, hey ! One does'nt mind a little ache here and there when in a fine boat like the Vega.

Headroom at his best is 5' 10" but not throughout and certainly not in
the forecabin unless you open the forehatch! I am 6' 2" and find no
problem, most of the time I spend sailing or sitting not walking around
inside. Hope this helps

While you won't be able to march back and forth through the cabin, you will be able to stand at attention between the cook stove and the sink with the hatch closed (Provided you're not wearing high heels). I have lived aboard my Vega for sixteen years and have found it quite comfortable. Just remember to duck when going forward to the V berth d;^) I'm somewhere between 5'10" and 5'11"

I have looked on line, however claimed 27" length includes the piece that
contains the (Bruce) anchor extended to it's furthest reach. The actual
length - roller to end) is 19in.

Hi Chuck,

I've been looking forward to your promised web pages about living
aboard your vega. I'm moving onto mine on Saturday. Probably only just for
the summer though, as the London weather might make a winter a bit
uncomfortable (I only have mains AC heating at the moment). We'll see how
it goes.

And I'm 6'4"... I find that the forepeak has the most comfortable bed, as
the starboard bunk is about an inch too short with the fold down chart table
that is at the forward end. No chance for me to stand up inside, but my
girlfriend is fine at about 5'8".

I'm still waiting on Laura and Bree to write their contributions d;^)

Laura is 5'8" and has no trouble at all with the headroom. We sleep in the V berth an dI just shelled out $700 for new cushions. We should be sleeping on them for the first time tonight.

Of course its always "Summer" here in Honolulu. It gets down into the sixties early in the morning in the winter but never really cold enough to need more than a light blanket. I'm curious what it would be like to live aboard in a cooler climate. We may find out as we are planning to sail to the Pacific Northwest one of these days. OTOH, we may just heasd south to Mexico or the Marquesas or back to Hawaii when the weather turns cold.
