I want to replace the original sanitation hose with Trident, and drove over to the boat today to measure how much I'll need. I found 3 different sizes of hose... 1.5" from the head to the tank and to the deck pumpout, a short run of a smaller size from the macerator's output to the seacock, and an even smaller size for the tank vent.

I was not able to locate a size printed on the two smaller hoses... are there standard sizes that are commonly used for macerator output and tank vent hose?

The boat is a 1997 Hunter 310.

Thanks!

Hose sizes

The line from the macerator to the thru-hull is 1"...the vent line is 5/8". Head intake is 3/4".

Trident 101/102 iis available in 1" and 1.5", but not in the other sizes. Use Trident or Shields #148 for the vent line and head intake.

The vent line is likely 5/8" hose, since that was often the standard size used for fuel and water tank vents. The hose for the macerator is either 1.25" or 1" hose, depending on the make and model of the macerator pump. Of the two sizes, it is probably 1", since that is the most common size IIRC.

edit: I see Peggie beat me to it.... :)

Peggie,

One more question... I can't seem to locate Trident 101/102 in 1" (including this site's store). Any idea where I could get it?

Thanks!

Peggy,

That's where I was looking. I found OdorSafe in 1.5", as well as Trident 101 1.5", along with Trident 148 in 5/8", 3/4", and 1.5". But no 1".

Do you know how to use a telephone??

I can't count the number of times that Dave and Phil have posted, "if you can't find exactly what you're looking for on our website, call us." And this is a perfect example:

Sbo.com carries Trident hose...Trident has 101/102 in 1". So doesn't it stand to reason that sbo.com can get it for you? CALL 'EM!

Sorry, I'm new here. :) But I figured that if they don't carry 1" in stock, it wouldn't be economical for them to special order a measly 2ft. of it for me.

You never have anything to lose by asking for what you want

The worst place you can end up is the same place you're in if you don't ask. And you'd be amazed at how often the answer is yes.

Most of what sbo.com sells is drop-shipped anyway, so since you'll be ordering 1.5" 101 or 102, adding a couple of feet of 1" to the order shouldn't be a problem. Never mind that you didn't know that...asking for what you want is how you find out these things.

And asking for help from me is how you find out that I'm a cranky ol' lady! :)

The case is that they probably have it in stock, but not on the website. I doubt you're the only one installing a macerator pump. :)
