I have a 1989 Hunter Vision 32 with a broken weld on a stanction post. My question is what holds the 4 bolts thru the base under the deck. Am I going to loose the washer and nuts when backing out the bolts? I have absolutely no access inside unless I cut out the liner under the post. I'm hoping the backing plate (better have one)has threaded hole (wishfull thinking?)Any experiences? Everything I run into with this boat was installed before the inside liner was put up ie holding tank, wiring, stanctions... Tom

I do not think that it will unscrew.....

Muzz: I do not think that the screw will back out if there is a washer and nut. I would suggest that you try removing one screw and see what happens. Regardless of the outcome, you will need to remove all of them in order to fix the stanchion.

broken stanchiont

If you can find a good welder they can be repaired in place. When I bought my 89 V32 seven years ago I had the same problem A good stainless welder can fix it ,just take tension of life lines pull back clamp and weld. Good luck Tom cooper V32 prologue1

Don't worry about removing the stanchions.

You won't loose any backing plates or nuts. On my '89 Vision 32, there are aluminum plates molded into the deck. I have stripped out a few of the mounting holes over the years, and redrilled and retapped them for the next larger screw size. Easy to do, just make sure you don't drill all the way thru the deck and you should never develop a leak.

Add a pad eye.

While you have your stantion base off, add a pad eye to the inner two screws. It is a great place to secure small lines to. You just have to look around for pad eyes which have about the correct holes centers then adjust them a little to fit.
