I have two loose stanchions, the second ones from the bow, port and starboad on an '87 catalina 30. Can anyone tell me if they are bolted in (I cannot locate the plate/bolt from the cabin side... or if they just screw in, and how to repair? Thank you very much! Barb

They are through bolted

On my 79 model Catalina 30 the stanchions are through bolted. They are located port side ,inside the Head compartment upper cabinet, and the Starboard side is inside the Hanging locker upper compartment. You will need someone inside and someone outside to remove the fasteners. Be aware that these are vented stanchions.

Thank you Harvey. I don't know what a vented stanchion is, but I'm going to the boat to take a look in the locker and cabinet. Thanks very much. Barb

Vented Stanchion

A vented stanchion has a small opening that lets the buildup of gas or pressure escape from the holding tank.
