I have a 1980 Oday 28 with a bent stanchion that needs to be replaced. Unfortunately it is port side aft and the bolts are behind the cabinetry for the galley. Has anyone done a repair like that ?
Hi Jon:I'm not too sure of the lay out on a O28, but if that particular stanchion is the one that I think it is, it can be gotten to through the lazarette on a O34. It's a reach, but it can be done. Hope this helps.
I have an O'Day 31. Don't know if its the same, but I had to cut out a small section in the top of the cabinet to get to the nuts for that stancion. I used a dremel tool with a cutting blade. Lots of dust but it worked and you can't see the cut out section because it is both below eye level at the back of the cabinet and behind the pots and dishes we keep in there.Hope that helps.Good luck
