One of my safety line stanchions on my Hunter 36.5 has broken at the base. It appears that the design called for the bottom bolt to pass upwards through the deck to a circular plate, secured in the base of the stanchion tube, to a threaded nut sitting just above this plate. The two attached pictures show the bottom of the stanchion tube and the bolt, circular plate (looks more like a washer!) and nut.
Perhaps wishful thinking, but is there a quick fix for this? I can't see that gluing the plate back into the bottom of the stanchion would be strong enough and even welding would be strong but a major hassle. It crossed my mind that a civil engineering "rock bolt" or "masonry anchor" might work - the kind that drops into a hole in the rock/masonry and then expands and grips when the bolt is tightened.
Any useful thoughts out there?
