Has anyone replaced their 18" stanchions with 24-26" double lifeline stanchions? If so, did you add backing plates?

Backing plates are preferred, but you may be able to get away with over sized fender washers. I had garhaurer marine build my new stanchions that I installed a few years back. You'll want to invest in the heavier welded base because the taller they are the more leverage load potential.
