All of mine are straight except - the ones that have been bent. Extreme tension on the lifelines acts in the inward direction. Extreme tension can have various sources.......
I just made a post a couple of days back about how I have found it cost effective and easy to have stanchions repaired vs replaced. One I had done when I got my boat back in 2000 is still fine.

www.marinepartdepot.com and Garhauer Marine both supply parts to make stanchions at a relatively low cost.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that seems greater than 5 degrees from vertical.

Hi, had some hurricane damage when Earl visited two weeks ago. I am just now getting prices to fix everything. Can you please quote FOB Port Huron on Qty 3 of these stanchions for a 1983 Hunter 37 Cutter: Top "D"; Intermediate "I"; Base "Z"; InBd Angle 7 deg; Tube 1 inch; No Taper. Thanks for your help - look forward to placing an order and getting these fixed!

The stanchions on the 37C are not flat as shown in the example. The oem ones have horizontal and verticle screws.

I needed one for my 37-C and found a pair of the identical stanchions on eBay for $20. I almost always check eBay first for anything I need for the boat.

I have two stanchions in my garage which were passed to me when I damaged two of mine unfortunately these were not a match for ours so I had ours rebuilt. These have a flange that goes over the toe rail. If anyone is interested they are yours either for pickup or you pay freight.
