Stains are in the pores of the gelcoat
I had the same problem once when changing dirty engine oil.The worst of the stainign is, ofcourse, all the carbon in the old oil.New gekciat does not take stains easily because it has not yet developed "pores" or microcrevices that are filled with chalk that, in turn, "sucks up" material that is absorbed by the chalk, old oil included.I found that Island Girl Pink, scrubbed in and allowed to soak into the stained area works well. Then rinse off. The other Cleansers from us will also work but are not meant to be rinsed. off.Regular degreasers have much less solvency and are water based so cannot remove chalk containing the stains. However, I am always open to correction!ThanksJim Willis
