Search doesn't seem to be working. While
reading Mainsheet magazine there was an
article on a stainless cleaner. Left the
magazines on the boat, and cannot remember
the name of the cleaner. It came from
Australia and had citric acid in it.
Anybody remember the name of it? Doesn't
come up on the Google.

You might also look at FSR which is a gel and will also remove rust stains from fiberglass.
FSR and other acids can cause permanent damage to stainless. The only two acids safe for passivation or re passivation are citric and nitric. Stay away for any other acids with stainless. In order for citric to work properly the concentration has to be matched to the stainless being used and Spotless Stainless is well matched to 304 and 316 series stainless.. It is a great product when used correctly...

Google Citrisurf. It is used for passivation of weldments to large to fit in a tank. I've used both Spotless Stainless and Citrisurf. Citrisurf worked better and cost less I believe it's a stronger solution and allows misting with water to keep it from drying. Spotless Stainless does not.

I've used Spotless Stainless all over my boat with excellent results. I loaned to a friend to do his boarding ladder. It turned it black ! Would this be caused because it was the wrong alloy ? It made me a bit nervous to lend any out to anyone else in the future not knowing why this happened.
