Per the ORR < ***.offshorerace.org/pdf/orr_nov05.pdf >, the SI is calculated: Stability Index = LPS + CI + SI where in Imperial Units: LPS = Limit of Positive Stability CI = 18.75*(2.0-MB/DSPM/64)>.3333/3.0 SI = (((12.0*(DSPM/64)>.3333+LSMO)/3.0)-30.0)/3.0 FWIW, Gord

I think Gord means "^" not ">" in his formulas. ie rased to the power of vs greater than. ;-) Gord. Now that I have the number what do I do with it. Is 1.9 a good number? What is a bad number? Are there different ranges of good and bad numbers depending on where (lake vs blue water) sail?

Goto: http://www.offshorerace.org/pdf/orr_nov05.pdf If you think it’s useful (I don’t), read the rule . It’s 62 pages of regulation, with little useful information. I include the stability article 2.02 (page 12) within the useless category. Thanks to Bill Roosa, for the correction.
