I installed a Schaefer furler on my old Mirage 27. It was a straight forward job for 2, did the sta-lok no problem. I'd install a new forestay. New wire is easier than old wire to work with. Make sure you tape the wire together a bit away of the stalok area to help keep the wire from unravelling.
