Hello there, I posted something similar to this some time ago but cannot find the archive. Can anyone tell me where I can purchase the masthead transducer for my ST 50 Wind instrument? The speed works perfectly well but the direction appears to be seized. Are they repairable or is a case of loadsamoney for the whole ST60 upgrade ?? :(

Hi Neil - I believe the ST50 and ST60 transducers are interchangeable. But before you order one, make sure it can't be repaired; there are bearing kits available that may or may not solve the problem. Take it to an authorized Raymarine service center in your area and see what they have to say about it. Best of luck, Trevor

no no no, you can maybe fix it yourself, very easily

If you have had the unit for quite a while, most likely you can revive it very easily. All the dust and grit are causing it to grind to a halt. The same thing happened to our ST-50 2 years ago. It was originally installed when the boat was new in 1992. I went up the stick with a can of Sailkote spray. I gave it a good shot in the seams for both the wind speed and direction. Worked it back and forth a bit, and it has been over 2 years now and is still working like new. Give this a try before you take the whole thing down for service. While you are up the stick, you can also coat your sail track on your way down. You can get Sailkote at West Marine.
