I'm stumped. My ST50 knot meter works when I take the transducer out and spin the paddle wheel with my finger. It worked when I sprayed the paddle wheel with the hose while she was up on the stands last spring but it does not work when I'm sailing! I expect I need a new transducer. What do you think?

Fouled paddle

If your still in the water and you have a plug, pull the transducer(insert plug quickly!) and check it for sea life. I need to pull mine every time I go out. Good luck!

Gary, If you remove the assy and spin

the paddle wheel and the meter works and shows forward speed then the problem is not with the sender or head. The problem must be in the way the wheel is presented to the water flow. Like blocked of fouled. If in turn, spinning the wheel presents no reading at all, then it could be either end. My knot meter displayed 0.0 today when we left the marina and simply resetting the display board brought it to life. Ray S/V Speedy
