Worked perfectly at beginning of season but wind direction is now off 30 degrees. Wind speed is working correctly. I have checked connections except at top of most. Tried linearisation and this is what happens. Two circles at 3nm, 2 minutes each. Shortly after starting the turns the screen goes to ADJ, but I never hear the audible sound that linearisation is complete. All the time I am making the circles the direction erratically changes. I then go into the wind and adjust to 0 degrees, but this does not correct the problem. What might be the solution to this problem? I tried the Raymarine forum but my post was not accepted even though I was granted permission to post. Certainly not very oonsumer friendly. Joan

This may sound stupid, but are you sure you're not showing true wind direction (vice apparent)?

Make sure the small grub screw than holds the vane in position on its shaft is still tight. If that has slipped your readings will be all over the place; mostly wrong.

It is adjustable with the worlds smallest allen wrench. Locktite blue when you re-set it.

Instrument doesn't have a true wind screen. I'll have to find someone to go up the mast to check this out. (Very seasoned senior). I do have some very small tools. Any idea how small an allen's wrench? May have to wait until the mast comes down this fall. Thanks for the suggestion. There has been a few bad storms.

The ST 40 does display either True or Apparent wind. There is some merit to the suggestion, in that you state it to be out by about 30 degrees. On my old one, there was an "A" or a "T" displayed.
And, you have sympathies over the Ray forum. (I'll leave it at that).
