ST40 sounder does not display anything, knot meter stuck 0.0

I recently purchased a 2005 Hunter 25. I believe it has the original knot meter and depth sounder on it. (ST 40's)

Two issues:

1) My knot meter currently just displays 0.0, although it worked during the sea trial with the surveyor. Any ideas? Do I need to "reset" it somehow?

2) The sounder doesn't display anything, nor does it "beep" when I turn it on the electrical pane. (The surveyor confirmed there is no power going to the sounder) How can I tell if the problem is the sounder itself? or the fuse? or the wiring?

I would like to be able to troubleshoot it myself before I pay someone to come do it for me!

take the impeller out to see if it is clogged. my knot meter goes to 0 about august of every year.

That solved the speed indicator. Thank you!!!! The boat surveyor said there is no power going to the depth sounder. Any suggestions on how I can test the unit myself before I pay throughout the nose to have the marina look at it?
