I bought a used Raymarine ST1000+ auto tiller about 6 months ago and have used it just about every weekend since. The PO had installed the unit for his emergency tiller but said he never powered it up.
Yesterday when stowing the unit after a leisurely sail I heard a rattling inside, so I cracked it open and found what look like a beeper lying in the case.
According to the manual the ST1000+ should beep to confirm any button push, mine never did.
I've always treated it like a eggs, so I'm thinking in it's past life it was subject to vibration, and the weighty beeper broke one of it's contacts, then yesterday if finally just fell off.
Since I'm the 2nd owner and have no idea of the original purchase date I'm sure there no warranty in force, but a beep to confirm key presses would be great.
I looked at the exposed side of the circuit board and saw no obvious indication that the beeper belonged there.
Has anyone ever opened up their ST1000+ and can tell me where the beeper should attach?
